A good start to learning Ukrainian is to learn some common words/phrases that you are likely to hear/use on a daily basis in Ukraine. These are good to memorize from the start as they can give you some basics in communication and practice in speaking the language. While this is definitely not an exhaustive list, it is a decent enough start

Please
This is also used for "you're welcome". When presented with something, such at a store, or your meal at a restaurant, you might here this right away. Unlike in English, they don't wait for "thank you" to say it. Sort of like saying "Here you go".

This is used as a common greeting, like saying "hello". This is the slightly less formal way of saying it.
